And then… there was a word. The Strongest Word.

January 17, 2010

Ha ha ha! I made a blog post!

Actually, I’ve been working on a big one for a few days. It’s taking me awhile because it deals with a certain subject matter that can stoke some fires. And I don’t want to present an idea that isn’t my true vision, so I’m rethinking a lot of it. It’s just a silly idea for a movie. I’ll try to make something of it and post it soon.

Meanwhile, this is something I made awhile ago. It started on Twitter where we were trying to impress each other with words we can look up on google, because actually knowing something is really lame when you have Google as a best friend. Anyway. A quick look on Wikipedia eventually brought me to the list of longest words in English. Naturally, I had to find a way to adapt the longest and somehow tweet it. This was NOT easy.

The scientific name for Titin isn’t really a real word. It’s a technical term that just lists all of the amino acids that make up this polymer. But it is a word. And at 189,819 letters, it is the strongest word. But how does the strongest Tweeter tweet the strongest word? Well, I thought for a bit…

If I actually tweeted the whole thing it would take 1356 tweets. That would be stupid.
I could link to the site about it, but that would be easy.
I could link to a page that actually has the whole word, but that would be simple.
(actually, finding a page that had the whole thing took awhile.)
I could make a image of Cirno saying the word. Yeah, that would be epic.

Cirno says Titin
Download the FULL SIZE version here. Be warned, it’s 7 MB.
This took forever to format in a way that made Photoshop not crash. What I ended up doing was finding a site that had it, copy it into a Word document (The one word is more than 20 pages in this font), format it, make it into a PDF, and then make a super long Photoshop file that my computer cold barely handle and just paste the pages in. This whole process took over an hour.

Even an HTML page with JUST THE WORD is 64 kb. Crazy!

When I was younger I might have tried to do something crazy like memorize this. I use to do stuff like that. Yes, I was the lamest kid ever.

Anyway, I’ll try to post here more often. I’m trying to organize everything so I can write even MORE. Like another blog more. Yes, I know. Sounds stupid given my track record. But if you ever come here and there aren’t many updates, you can always find out what I’m doing on Twitter.

I warned you that I would take over the world! This is my starting point!

And none of you can stop me!

Tree Planting! Now with 30% more roots!

October 8, 2009

I’m “branching out” a lot lately. I’m helping a bunch of people behind the scenes and starting to take up more things now that I have the time. Good things will come for those who wait, but some of the current fruits of my labor can be seen now!

And they are also good things!

First off, I am now a regular writer for Anime Diet. I’m still in my testing phase but plan to be a major contributor. This will not affect this blog whatsoever, as what I write there will be almost solely commentary. I’ll still write a bit of that here, but this site will mostly be updates and other personal ramblings. I had been looking for a way to start doing more in-depth fandom content with a bit more of a wider audience, and they had just advertised that they were looking for writers. Bam.

On a side note, when I was thinking about making my own separate review blog I purchased itsmyrevolution.com. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet. It may become a future blog or part of another project someday. I have a habit of grabbing amazing untaken domain names and selling them, so it may go that way too. It’s a Chokotto Sister reference, for those who don’t get it.

Next on the list is that I’m narrowing down a name for my circle. I plan to be producing high-quality projects in the next few years and hope to have other members eventually join. The real goal here is to hopefully make it a subsidiary of my main studio. If I eventually come to the point where my fan work and original doujin projects have to potential to be my full time job or support a potential original industry project, I’ll just fold them all together to improve my chances. If not, I can keep them separate and continue as I have. I keep my hobbies from my professional life separate for a reason, and up until a year ago I would have never even dreamed of doing fan projects again. But lately I’ve started to shift and split my focus. I’m starting to meet with all the right people, I’m starting to focus my life better, if not broader. I’m not a moron, though. I’m not trying to work IN the industry here, I plan to work with it. I have too many years of Japanese lessons to go before any of that could possibly not happen.

So hopefully all of you are part of the ground roots of something big. Either a big load of fun, or something that goes beyond being in the fandom to being part of it in a big way. Only time will tell.

Either way, I’m enjoying things as they are.

The next few weeks are going to be full of ups and downs. I still need to finish my post from the last trip to Tokyo and start posting music reviews. I have a certain order that I want to do them, that’s why it’s taken me so long to post one. I’m not sure what video or music project I’m going to tackle next, but it seems that every time I start to work on a Vocaloid project something comes up and I need the Mac side of my computers. I had already started another Fensler GI JOE parody, but I’d rather not work on it until I get another kind of video done. I guess we’ll see!

Cirno is a Genius - Motorcycle

September 21, 2009

Yep, another G.I. Joe PSA parody. I actually had this near finished a few months ago, but I didn’t like the mouths or the lip sync so I put it on the backburner until I had the time. I re-did a few things, got some new backgrounds and such. I tried to use my own photos this time, but they just didn’t work out. I still like the challenge of finding stuff on Google that works, though.

I don’t want to be known as somebody who just does G.I. Joe PSA parodies, so it’ll be awhile before I post another one. Hopefully that will give me the drive to make more videos, as I already have another PSA half done. And I could not stop laughing while making it… trust me, it’ll be worth the wait.

Things have been crazy lately and nobody would believe me if I told you even half of what has been going on! Silver Week has been a rebirth of sorts and I’m hoping that I can continue on this path. Unfortunately given my track record I can make no promises :( To be honest I thought about making this a daily blog thing a la walfas, but since I’ve become so active on Twitter it seems kinda silly. I can try and start using some of my ideas I had and start posting more, but we’ll see!

Until next time!

#itscirnotime and Cirno Day!

September 9, 2009

IT'S CIRNO TIME

It’s ⑨/⑨/⑨! and you know what that means!

IT MEANS EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING AND FOREVER. TWICE.

This is the first time I’m mentioning this, but I had originally planned this huge collaboration… but the person who I was working with backed out about 4 weeks ago. I’m not going to mention them here because I have so much respect for them and the fact that they even considered working with me blew my mind. The only reason I’m mentioning this is that I have a whole bunch of pre-made graphics that you’ll be seeing soon. Once I get some big projects done, and I mean 100k youtube views and Nico Nico Douga Charts huge, maybe I’ll be able to form my own circle once I have the clout.

I guess my main contribution to Cirno day is the #itscirnotime tag on Twitter. I bought the http://www.itscirnotime.com domain, which currently just goes to a search for the tag on Twitter. Trust me, I have more plans for that. If you follow me, you’ll know that the whole thing was created in an instant and kinda took off from there. Next is to do something with it.

People are begging me for content, and that’s great. I have a lot of stuff planned, but I’ve been saying that forever. The one cool part is that one of my big jobs is over. I started another part-time teaching job that’s an extra day, but that shouldn’t change much. If I go to teaching full time I’ll have plenty of extra time next year too.

But yeah. If you’re on twitter one of our goals is to get a Cirno tag on the Twitter Trending Topics today. Let’s go for it!

It’s Cirno Time!

In Tokyo~

August 2, 2009

I will be in Tokyo all week. Well, Tokyo and Yokohama. I have a few updates ready, but things like the music reviews will wait until after I get back.

All of my stuff is still packed up from my recent move. Once I get my desktop back up I will finish a video or two, hopefully.

So yeah. I’m updating my Twitter with pics and stuff. I’m also taking picture requests, so anything you want to see just let me know. I will be in Akihabara several times this week as well. Tomorrow I’m helping a non Touhou/Anime friend go computer shopping, so I won’t be able to hit up any anime stuff… except maybe the Saki Taco Stand.

It’s fun having free time. But it’s also weird… when I’m sitting working on a project I’m on a computer constantly and have time to post like 200 tweets or keep up AIM conversations… but I’m super busy, haha. Thank goodness for the iPhone.

Also, I have a account on Nico Nico Douga. You can find it here.

That’s all for now. Will do a big update with all the stuff I get and post my music review when I scan all the cover art. Though I might be sparse with the Touhou stuff… I’m looking to get some killer headphones, like some Stax…. And I really need clothes. But I will get something. Maybe just Hatsune Miku stuff at least.

Yeah!

Prismriver the Hard Way

July 19, 2009

Hah. All this talk about Touhou and hip hop birthed something interesting.

I didn’t really plan on taking part of my Sunday to do this. But somebody on twitter sent me these two Touhou Eminem mashups (here and here)… and I was like… Eh… that’s not hard to do. It took longer than I thought, mostly because I started with a Madonna song, but the file ended up having glitches. The only real hard part in doing this is finding a song that would work. Not only did the first Beastie Boys song I try work out, but it was also called 3 the Hard Way and there’s three Prismriver Sisters… and their theme from Perfect Cherry Blossom just worked.

I may do more if it’s well received, but not until I get some real videos done. I have tomorrow off… I may try and see if I can finish the re-do of this older video I’m working on.

OH, BTW the HiQuality MP3 can be found here: http://cirnoisagenius.com/ytm/CIAG-PrismriverTheHardWay.mp3

Ice Ice Fairy

July 14, 2009

Try getting THAT imaginary version of that song out of your head now.

Fo reals.

When that line came into my head the other day I started wondering… with all of those shelves of Touhou music at Toranoana I wonder if there is a hip hop themed Touhou album? If there is, please let me know immediately. I must hear.

Now, if there is not one… it must be done. And it must be done correctly. I’m a big fan of hip hop as a form of music, not a culture. Screw the culture. When people use it as a form of music and a mix of every genre available hip hop can be awesome. It’s the original Music Champuru. It can also be hilarious, especially when out of place. I know a lot of you would rather kill me than have something like rap and hip hop invade your Touhou, but hear me out. I get these visions of this being amazing. Though… Japanese Hip Hop is more like “Hit or Miss” Hop. Most anime hip hop is usually cutesy or cheezy… take Hip Hop Vegetable by Miyuki Sawashiro (Puchiko) and Osanpo Kyousoukyoku by Orikasa Fumiko (Miu)… among my favorites but beyond silly.

I’d want something about Samurai Champloo quality… I’ve done beat production in my past… if I produced it I wonder if I could get the right people together to make this happen? All of the vocals would be mostly in Japanese, of course.

I wonder how the Japanese Touhou fandom would take to it…

That being said, I’ll have a review of all the CDs I got in Tokyo hopefully in a few days. They’re all mostly written, I just need to take some photos or scans of the albums. Several people have asked if I’ll post the music online… I may not, as most of them are probably available online elsewhere.

I’m taking a personal trip to Tokyo in a few weeks. Unfortunately I’ll be leaving just before Comiket, but I’m planning on picking up what Touhou stuff I can.

I’ve been getting a ton of stuff done, even when work tries it’s hardest to intervene. I have a ton of free time coming up soon so I hope to have some fun with it. Only thing that may get in my way is that I’m relocating about an hour away from where I live now. I’m hoping that I don’t have any internet problems again. I can’t go another month without real internet, especially when I’ve been teased with dedicated fiber optic broadband.

I’m also going to try and start adding title pics to my blog posts… I’m not sure if I’m going to just grab stuff from the net (danbooru, whatever) or just make stuff using create.swf. Or I could just disappear for a few months and work on my 3D models. I’m about to buy Maya 2008 for my job but I still have a lot of reading to do before I start building with it.

That being said, Word to your Okaasan.

Stalking is Fun and Educational

July 12, 2009

Quick update!

I now have a Twitter and Facebook.

Well, I’ve had the Facebook for some time now…. Just never got around to telling anybody about it.

The Twitter will be updated quite frequently. I got one for my personal dealings a few months ago and I quite like it. I’ve had a personal facebook for years but I never update it.

As for blog entries…. I write too damn much. I have about 10 drafts saved and all of them are way too long. I’m currently weeding down the important ones and breaking them apart or saving some until time warrants. That’s the main reason I got the Twitter, so now I can talk about random current events without having to wait until I get a blog entry timed right.

So yeah… Crazy updates on the Twitter, a big update soon, and maybe even something later on today.

Chasing Crazy

June 21, 2009

So the other day I was driving in one of the big cities in my area. I was at a stoplight on a road with like 10 lanes, and out of the corner of my eye I spot a Suzuki with a crazy spoiler covered with brand stickers. He was in the far left lane turning left and I was in the far right lane behind a bunch of cars. Then I noticed the top of a huge decal on the side… of Flandre! On the back I’m pretty sure I saw Meiling and Sakuya too… I was all set to cause crazy traffic havoc and follow the guy just to get a picture. The light changed, he left, and I was stuck going where all the other little cars were going instead :(

I’m going back to that city this weekend in hopes of finding it again. I’ve only seen one other anime theme car driving around, and that one had Nanoha on it. I love these cars. I could never have the balls to do that myself. Well, technically I couldn’t even if I wanted to as I decided on a company rental. I do have a Yukkuri Reimu hanging from my rear view, though :)

But that brings the question… I wonder how many Touhou fans are around here? I mean, I still go into Tokyo on the Shinkansen on my employer’s dime, but it’s crazy… I go for a 2 hour meeting and dinner and we finish just in time for me to take the last train back… every time. This never gives me time to go to Akihabara. I also wonder how many people also do this… their company pays for them to take the train in, but they leave as soon as the meeting/project is done? I bet a lot of people have been to Tokyo but have never SEEN Tokyo. I’m glad I spent the month I did there before everything started.

That said, one day I had an opportunity before our business dinner to pop over to Akihabara last month. I completely forgot about this until yesterday when I found my bag from Toranoana. Yeah, it’s been that crazy lately. I grabbed a few more CDs there and then headed to Mandarake… which just closed. BUT… and this is a protip… if you go right across the street from the side window that has all the Touhou stuff in it, you’ll see some Gashapon machines with random cheap Touhou stuff. If you go down that little (almost shady) alleyway that’s lined with boxes of random electronics you’ll find a little shop with tons of Touhou stuff! That’s where I picked up some pencil boards, my mini Reimu Yukkuri, their last DVD copy of “A Summer Day’s Dream”, another Cirno keychain, and my Suika “Suica” card :D Pictures will come soon. It was a pretty random place, but they had stuff that none of the other stores in Akihabara had… and they had different t-shirts from any of the places I had been but I was trying to avoid those for now.

That being said… I want to try and find some anime shops around this area. I’ve found plenty of awesome used and new game shops, but that’s it. After seeing that car, I want to find out what kind of fanbase there is here.

And speaking of cars… would it be too tacky if I got a light blue car with white rims? :D I got this company car so it would be easier to get something cool later… but it’s a tiny kei car that I can’t do anything to. If I can find a fourth job I could save up for the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S I’ve always wanted… I think that would be pretty sweet in Cirno blue with white rims… lol. One of my friends here has the stereotypical old Skyline, spoiler, and whatever. I would like to get something that’s quintessentially Japanese… Maybe a NSX? You can get a used one (non turbo) for under 2 million yen here. In America I had a almost new car I could barely afford, but it never broke down and was under warranty. I’d like to have a cool used car for once…. and live dangerously…

That being said, I LOVE driving in Japan. I haven’t driven on the right side for a long time, but I adjusted almost immediately. I have a tiny 4 door kei car that gets the equivalent of 50+ MPG. I can go anywhere and use almost no gas. The only prefecture here in the north I haven’t been to is Hokkaido, but I’ll fix that this summer. I was suppose to go after Tokyo, but that got pushed to August. And I will drive, because I love it.

I’m going to break this up and post more later. I want to do a review of the CDs I bought and talk about Touhou music in general. I’ve had internet since last week now but I’ve had no time to use it. I did a speed test the other day and I’m getting over 50 MB/s download and over 20 MB/s upload :D

So expect huge updates from here on out. For reals.
